Navigating My Book’s Digital Odyssey: From creating My Own products to opening My Own Storefront

October 11, 2023

Recently, I embarked on a fascinating journey to explore the various platforms where my literary creations have found their homes. The experience was nothing short of eye-opening, as I discovered an array of storefronts offering my books in every imaginable format: ebooks, print, and even audiobooks.
While I was familiar with some of these platforms, like Amazon, Apple, and Google, the sheer diversity and reach of distribution surprised me. Thinking about how technology has empowered authors to connect with readers globally is awe-inspiring.

However, amidst this exploration, I realized I needed a dedicated storefront of my own. As a creator, I wanted a space where I could showcase my existing works and introduce new, unique products to my readership.
Setting up this personal bookstore turned out to be an adventure in itself. Like any worthwhile endeavor, it took time and effort to get it just right. There were moments of frustration and exhilaration as I watched my vision come to life.

As any creator knows, every project is a mosaic of moving parts. From designing an inviting layout to integrating seamless payment options, each step was a puzzle piece contributing to the overall picture of my virtual store. It was a learning process, but the satisfaction of seeing it all come together was unparalleled.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey was the opportunity to directly connect readers to my work. It’s a place where they can peruse my catalog, explore different formats, and discover a hidden gem they might have missed elsewhere.

In this evolving digital publishing landscape, having my own storefront is crucial to establishing a direct relationship with my audience. It’s a space where creativity knows no bounds, and I can experiment with new ideas, formats, and concepts.

As I continue to fine-tune and expand my bookstore, I am filled with excitement for the possibilities. From exclusive releases to special editions, the potential is boundless.

To my fellow creators, I encourage you to venture into personal storefronts. It’s a venture that empowers you to curate your creative space and deepens the connection with your audience in ways you might not have imagined.

Stay tuned for updates on my ongoing journey in this vibrant independent publishing world. Who knows what exciting chapters lie ahead?

Until then, happy reading!

Audiobooks, Paperbacks, eBooks

May 23, 2023

I always loved reading. Back then were only books; eventually, stories on tape increased in popularity. But only as an adult did I discover audiobooks after realizing I was not fond of audio plays.

We live in a digital age; reading has transcended traditional boundaries, giving rise to various formats catering to different preferences and lifestyles. From the allure of flipping through a paperback to the convenience of eBooks and the immersive experience of audiobooks, the world of literature has expanded exponentially. Moreover, with the advent of platforms like Google Play, Apple’s iBooks, and streaming services such as Spotify, accessing books has never been easier, offering worldwide reach and generating accessibility regardless of one’s location.

Shortly before I hit publish on my books, I realized that I could bring my books to readers as paperbacks and as ebooks and aim to get audiobooks produced. That is why I want to start diving into electronic products like eBooks and audiobooks compared to paperbacks while highlighting their impact on global readership and the inclusion of large prints.

The Rise of Audiobooks

Audiobooks have revolutionized the way we consume literature. These audio recordings of books allow readers to enjoy stories on the go, whether during long commutes, workouts, or simply while relaxing at home. With the proliferation of streamers like Spotify, audiobooks have become more accessible than ever, often available on subscription-based platforms that offer a vast library of titles. Listeners can delve into captivating narratives narrated by talented voice actors, enhancing the immersive experience and bringing stories to life uniquely.

And I couldn’t hold but be amazed at where my narrated books can be accessed. Because I am still in awe, I am working hard on a new series: Where to Find….

Embracing the Digital Era: eBooks

Unlike physical books, eBooks are electronic copies of printed material that can be read on various devices such as e-readers, tablets, and smartphones. I am a paperback reader, but I recognize the many advantages, including portability, storage efficiency, and adjustable font sizes, which can accommodate different reading preferences. Platforms like Google Play and Apple’s iBooks have become go-to destinations for eBook enthusiasts, providing a vast selection of titles from mainstream and indie authors. With the worldwide reach of these platforms, readers from any corner of the globe can instantly access their favorite books with just a few taps.

The Timeless Appeal of Paperbacks

Despite the digital revolution, paperbacks hold a special place in the hearts of avid readers. Their electronic counterparts cannot replicate the tactile experience of holding a book, the smell of fresh pages, and the satisfaction of turning them. Paperbacks offer a sensory experience many readers cherish, allowing for a deeper connection with the text. Furthermore, large prints have become popular, catering to readers with visual impairments or those who prefer a more comfortable reading experience. Large print editions make books more accessible, eliminating barriers for individuals with visual limitations and ensuring inclusivity.

Global Reach and Accessibility

Once I started my publishing journey, I learned that offering audiobooks, eBooks, and paperbacks is their ability to transcend geographical limitations and connect readers worldwide. Digital platforms like Google Play and Apple’s iBooks have easily enabled authors and publishers to reach a global audience. Whether you live in a bustling metropolis or a remote village, you can access an extensive collection of books empowering readers from all walks of life.

The Impact on Reading Culture

The availability of different formats has led to a surge in reading culture, making books more accessible and appealing to a broader audience. Audiobooks, eBooks, and paperbacks have generated new avenues for self-expression, entertainment, and knowledge acquisition. The diversity of options allows readers to choose the format that best suits their preferences and lifestyle, ensuring that literature remains relevant in the digital age.

The world of reading has undergone a remarkable transformation with the advent of audiobooks, eBooks, and paperbacks. These formats offer unique experiences that cater to readers’ diverse needs and preferences. While audiobooks provide a convenient, on-the-go option, eBooks offer portability and adjustable features. Paperbacks’ tangible appeal continues to captivate traditionalists and those seeking a more immersive reading experience. Thanks to platforms like Google Play, Apple’s iBooks, and streaming services like Spotify, readers worldwide can explore a vast library of titles, regardless of location. Furthermore, including large prints enhances accessibility for visually impaired readers and promotes a more inclusive reading culture. As technology advances and reading habits evolve, the world of literature continues to thrive, welcoming readers of all backgrounds and ensuring that the joy of reading remains timeless.

Jessie Grean, that’s the Title

May 7, 2020

When you write anyhing, you need a title. And in this case: a book title.

Have you ever dismissed a book because of how it was named? I raise my hand. Maybe the title was wordy, too long and or dull, too broad or to unassuming. Eventually, I picked up a couple of the books which I dismissed, only because I heard great reviews about them or the book was about to be turned into a film.

I had a title from the beginning, and just like now, it was the main character’s name.  I use the name of a friend and slightly altered it as I didn’t want her to think the book is about her in any way. The name somehow was just so fitting. Back then, my book was still a comic, and the name gave the character as well as a book project the air of superheroesque feeling.

After a couple of revisions, the direction within the pages changed. The characters’ names changed, and the title changed. I not only tested out different names for the main character but the comic book title as well.

The basic idea always was based on a mentalism-mind-bending theme. So I thought it would be fun, and if the heroine of the story could be drawn in a way that it was hard to judge if it was a boy or a girl. I wasn’t sure if I could pull the writing off.

I looked into unisex names. After I made a list, Jessie talked to me. The name was the perfect fit for the girl wading through her own story. So there was only the last name left. In most books, the character grows or changes throughout their own story. In this case, Jessie is learning new skills and discovering a new way of life. As she explores her world, she felt green behind her ears, so I called her Grean.

What are good titles for books?

But how to name the book? After all, the title, along with the cover catch a reader’s eyes. The title is supposed to give the essence of the book, a glimpse of the book’s content.

A good title tells me what genre the book very likely takes place, and what age group the published work would like to attract.

However, over the years, certain genres have overuse specific wordings and structures, that I almost groan at the unimaginativeness of book titles. They do tell me what type the book is, but as well vibrate the feeling that the same plots have been done to death.

Who knew that finding a title could be so hard. Then I sat at my desk, contemplating the title, the book content, and the novel’s future shelf life, I realized that I wanted an evergreen title as well.

A book title decision

Having written “untitled” or “working title” on the front page felt very uncreative. So I decided to place the main character’s name back on the page. You know what. I liked it. For me, the title ‘Jessie Grean’ represents the essence of the book as it is her story.

Have you come across a great book title or ones you didn’t like?

Jessie Grean, my debut novel

May 3, 2020

01 Jessie Grean post pic 02

I am so happy you found your way here. Jessie Grean is going to be my first published work, and I am thrilled that it finally will be out this year.

Before Covid-19 happened, I already planned on getting this manuscript out into this world, either traditionally or none-traditionally published.

But then shit hit the fan, and everything changed along with my aspirations.

Suddenly, I had no more time to work on making my dream come true as, of course, more important things happened. However, as I saddled into my new life, I realized that I had to continue to work on my book to keep my sanity. And eventually, all this will be over. (I cross my fingers.)

So, I started chipping away on my path of becoming a first-time author after many years of the initial idea for Jessie Grean.

Initially, I had planned for her to become a graphic novel. Back then, I was able to picture every page. There was only one problem: I couldn’t draw, at least not in the way I would have loved for the book to be seen any readers.

I started to describe the pictures so that a future comic artist could make my vision come to life. After several drafts, I realized that I had written a substantial amount and continue. Eventually, I had my first draft.

As life goes, I shelved my little project and pulled it back out two years ago during spring cleaning. I had put a lot of time and effort into the page, but I wanted to toss my notebook delete everything as the work I had put in didn’t amount to anything: no comic, no novel, no short story.

A change of mind

During a restless night, I had changed my mind, though, and decided not only to keep my notes but to try and get my manuscript published as well. One of the deciding factors in making this decision was one section in the book ” 7 Habits of Highly effective people,” Stephen Covey. In one of his chapters, he talks about what the reader would regret during their final moments on this earth. And one thing for me would be not trying to publish any of my work.

Jessie Grean is my third or fourth writing project. My first was a RomCom, but I was told it was too generic and predictable. The criticism and, I guess, lack of my backbone motivated me to move on to other ideas.

So here we are in 2020 planning to publish my first ever book, a contemporary Young Adult novel.

Why a Young Adult novel?

I am not sure. When the idea came to me, it just felt right. I never considered Jessie Grean rean to be a New Adult or Adult book. Even the contemporary genre came naturally, which I found interesting as I enjoy dystopian and sci-fi as well.

So a contemporary young adult book my debut novel it became because it felt right.

I hope you will be happy with the result as well, once the novel is ready to be published.
